Ten Years Ago, Today

November 27, 2004
This entry was inspired by someone I consider brilliant, Margaret. She leaves some of the best comments.

Ten Years Ago, Today

Ten years ago, few of us had cellular phones and those of us who did used them politely. We could wait until we got home to talk to someone, pay phones were available, and you never said to people (or heard from them) I am about out of minutes. Dinners were interrupted by telemarketers not by a private party in your pants put on by Sprint PCS. You did not feel the need to disconnect from the world because you were not tethered to it by three ounces of cellular bondage.

Ten years ago, we heard that a football star had brutally murdered his wife and said silently to ourselves, please let it be Frank Gifford.

Ten years ago, if gas went over a dollar a gallon we found that absurd when today we cross three lanes of opposing traffic if we see gas UNDER two dollars a gallon. I agree with the Vice-President of the United States that we need to stop making his friends rich, and move toward hydrogen fuel cells and make a different set of his friends rich.
