I've always wondered why people get so pissed off about immigrants & learning English. Besides the fact that this country was comprised solely of immigrants, who cares!?! At the end of the day, who really cares. Either we are citizens of the world, or we're isolationists. I'm a citizen of the world. (I'm also a citizen of the shower - time to get in!)

heh...we told the flight attendant, who checked the gate area, but it was already full of people for the next flight and if it was still there he could not find it. They are supposed to send it on if they find it, we have to fill out a lost & found thing with the airline...

Re abortion rights: SOLD! Although I do think for practical purposes, when you move to a new country, it behooves you to learn the language. I'd do it if I moved, just to make life easier on myself, and to get a feel for the culture in idiom and axiom.

I hope that works -- I give you the url for a specific entry -- about learning English. Some of us are fortunate enough to have been born into the language, just as some of us have been born American citizens. (It seems to me that an accident of birth is not something to be proud of because you did nothing to earn it.) "They" tell me it's not politically correct to make fun of people just because they are stupid; "they" may be wrong.
