You make a good point. We live in a time when youth and vigor are the cardinal virtues. Dying old people are supposed to be in nursing homes where people can't see them.

Being a former Catholic, I still hold The Pope in the highest regard. He is as you say, an important leader in Christianity, not only Catholicism. I was moved beyond measure when he said recently over Easter that he is likening his suffering to that of Jesus Christ.

You are so right. I'm a recovering Catholic. Pope John Paul II is an amazing man and leader. He has always amused me and filled me with admiration. I remember when he was named pope (I found my prayer card the other day from like 5th or 6th grade with the celebration prayer on it).
