I think that sometimes God's way of helping is to make sure you know how to prepare yourself. I don't agree that you should stop praying once you start preparing, though. Either way, my thoughts are with her and with you.

I seems to me that maybe your cousin just fails to see that praying is preparing. "Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is." I, too, am praying for her safety. Our God is faithful!
