I wish more Christians would get what you just said, but alas... The children you teach are one group of lucky kids and the lessons they'll carry away from your upcoming unit will undoubtedly have a lasting impact. Kudos to you! Puppets? Ah, you are a man of great patience. With such a wonderful deleting ability you have to be.:)

Good entry! I agree with Diane about your kids being lucky to have you for a teacher. It's funny you should mention James Dobson. I had tried to read his book, 'The spirited Child'. I ended up reading the first chapter and was appalled at what hate and violence it portrayed!I skimmed through the book, just to make sure I wasn't missing anything, but confirmed that the rest of the book was crap.I ended up throwing the book in the trash can(where it belongs). It is sad that so many people take the christian religion and twist it into their own sick tool of hate.Kudos to you!

I wish I had had this instruction as a child. I was raised sans religion. My folks told me it was for me to decide. My first memory of religion of watching three drifferent religious groups on the T.V. They were up in each other's face, pointing, spitting and damning each other to hell. As a child, I concluded I wanted no part of that. I decided to live by the adage of 'do unto others'. Little did I know it was the premise of "the book". It took me a good 30 plus years before I became interested and studied. I still see and am disgusted by the hypocrits. Good for you.

I am not in the slightest a religious person, and it works quite well for me. Regardless, I very much applaud the message you are trying to send to your students- especially the part about the Bible being a tool rather than a weapon. Too many try to use their religion to justify harming others.

Hey can you go into my bank account and delete the negative balance for me? ;-)

Wow, I'm glad to hear someone teaching that perspective. It's the right one and it's sure a far cry from what most of the 'popular' ministries are teaching. You're too cool for this planet.
