My SIL along with siblings were home schooled some of the time because 4 out of 5 of them were dyslexic. If you think that schools are with the times when dealing with those kinds of disabilities, it still isn't happening. SIL did go to public school but her mom did a stand up job in teaching her kids when the schools failed in regards to the dyslexia. And this is a good district. It can be outstanding. Still, in regards to dyslexia especially, it wasnt good and continues to be backwards. However, in this article, I agree with you. If my kids are playing on the playground and there is a kid with these kinds of behaviors, you can be damn sure Id want something done. As a parent, why would you refuse to do something? I know that my SIL would take this seriously. The boy's parents say they hope their lawsuit will force schools to treat disabled or home-schooled children the same way as other children. If this kid is being hurtful, the kid is being hurtful. I just dont see this as a discrimination issue. Why should the other kids who have to do what theyre told and why should leniency apply to the home-schooled kid? Why should these children behaving appropriatley pay the price? What theyre really asking is for their kid to be treated differently because he is home schooled and disabled. Hes being disruptive and threatening and yet nothing should be done? He should be treated with kit gloves because he has Aspergers? I could go on for hours here and I think I should stop now. Reality is, hes not like everyone else. There are things that need to happen for this kid to learn. And it takes 20x more reinforcing than a child without disability.

Hey, I can't read CNN. :-( My computer is part of the vast conspiracy against me. I'm sorry about your finger. Couldn'y of happened to a worse finger. Last night cleaning the dishes I went to put away one of Mom's old heavy pots and I dropped it. Lucky I jumped out of the way. Unfortunatly, the floor wasn't so smart and there is a HUGE dent in the floor. If you were an ice skater that dent would kill you. its deep. Mom thinks I would have lost my toe if I hadn't moved.. Er. Hope your finger feels better. Cause I need a favor ;-)

I will do everyone a favor and keep my homeschooled children in a bubble and never allow them to interact with public school kids to make sure they don't infect anyone. ;-) I'm being sarcastic, but I'm sure you'll forgive me.
