The Catholic's feel the same way about masterbation....I wonder how many pre-teens confess that sin? Any how, we call it self abuse....I find it extremely offensive that masterbation would be considered a sin. When Matty was younger...at the age when wet dreams were normal and confusing for him, I had gone to a Mass and the Priest stood at the Pulpit ranting and raving about how wrong it was. I just sat there snorting....we are after all not required and especially discouraged to shout Halleluiah's and Amens...or God forbid, loudly shout our disdain. Anyhow, after we came home, I told Matty, most adamantly, that what that Priest said up there was absolute hog wash and not to feel guilty over such rot. I think the only thing I succeeded in doing that day, was having Matty say mega amounts of prays to save my soul, from the damnation that was sure to happen too me.

Christopher.. question.. do Lutherans make a distinction between male and female masturbation? I still still stick with my comment ..as I said before I am sure everyone is fantasizing about my husband.. =)

I work with my church's high school youth group and when approached by a bunch of the boys about masturbation (I think they were trying to make me blush...silly children), I told them it's the safest sex they'll ever have. It's most important to be realistic about life and not pretend we're all saints, at least, I'm no saint!

I knew you were speaking from the church's point of view, you have to in your position. I, too, love your banner! Thanks for mentioning me.

RE: Inkdragon's comment - I wasn't asked MY opinion I was asked the Church's position on the matter and it wasn't kids trying to make me blush, it was a concerned parent. I told her the possition of the church and that it was also as likey to happen as shaving and driving. We can wish it away but it will still happen. I'm not a saint but I'm also not a volunteer, I'm sworn to uphold the doctrinal possitions of the church as an employee of the Church at the denominational level (we don't have one on this, we leave it alone doctrinally, we just have a professional 'opinion').
