The news is talking about how Joe Kennedy was brave to lobotomize her and hide her in Wisconsin � without telling his wife - where she was cared for by nurses and nuns. I am confused by this because Boston, Massachusetts has the fourth best hospitals (Outside of New York, Rochester, and the Capital) and no lack for nuns � why Wisconsin?
My point is this: Rosemarie Kennedy was influential and did inspire her siblings to care about the handicapped, she inspired the Special Olympics and a host of other programs and services for those with disabilities.
However, if the Bushes had a retarded child, had them lobotomized and hid them in Wisconsin they would have burned George H. W. Bush at the stake and drown Barbara Bush. Let us be honest, there was no reason that nurses and nuns could not have cared for the woman at her home. She was potentially embarrassing so Joe Kennedy got rid of her at a time when people had been taking care of children with her problems for years.
If a Republican had done that Michael Moore would have put down cupcakes and made a move, fraught with factual errors and half wits all over diary land would be unable to stop talking about it.
But, Republicans are better than that. George H.W. Bush would have kept his retarded child at home and even got him a job in the family business � most votes of any president, ever. Rosemary may have been hidden, but no one hides Jenna Bush, no one. We even let her and Barbara give a speech at the party�s convention, on live, prime time television. Democrats would never be that big.
