in this springtime of hope

the tragedy of november second

October 14, 2004
I watched the Presidential debate. I should not fill my brain with such filth! Honestly, most people my age are killing off parts of their brain with drugs and alcohol and filling what remains with pornography and the lyrics to terrible music and I am filling my brains storage capacity with long-winded, circuitous answers and grammatical disasters.

John Kerry finally persuaded me last night with, Alan Greenspan supports the Presidents tax cut. I guess if Alan Greenspan supports it, I can support it as well but my real question remains: is spelled Alan or Allen? Both are correct but I can never remember which one I should put with Mr. Greenspans name. Then you have George W. Bush finally articulating his political philosophy in terms that I can not only understand, but also agree with and agree respect.

For me the election boils down to two issues Security and the Economy.

President George W. Bush sees the Meta-War on terror as larger than the narrow construction presented by the Democrats through Senator John Kerry. The President is viewing this as a global war, that has gone on since before September 11, 2001 against a larger enemy than Osama Bin Laden or Al Qaida. Senator Kerry and the Democrats are ensconced in the idea of it just being Al Qaida or Osama Bin Laden and that is dangerous.

On the Economy President George W. Bush, again, is seeing the big picture on the Economy while Senator Kerry is not. The key to the future of our economy is education are retooling our workers to keep up with the progress of the world. There is a reason you can pay someone a lot less to do the jobs being outsourced they require very little if any skills. If we train the American people with skills for the new economy, perhaps they can participate in it. Senator Kerry did not seem to get that, he has kept to the magic wand mantra of when he is elected the jobs will magically appear after he waves a wand.

Senator John Kerry should also thank Senator BOB Kerry for reminding everyone that HE is the boring Senator Kerry, not John Kerry. He will help Kerry get elected by proving to us all that, really, it could be worse.

The tragedy of November 2, 2004 will not be Senator John Kerrys election to the White House but the fact that he will be elected because people hate George W. Bush, not because anyone supports him.
