happy fourth of jingoism

I agree with my sister that the protest about using the space of the former World Trade Center for commercial space instead of a memorial is stupid. Monuments and memorials do not bring people back and they do not make us feel better.

However, I disagree on there not being a memorial. The memorial and the monument will be the new tower: moving on with our lives and not letting the terrorists win. They acted a symbol of the United States of America and one of the driving forces that make our republic great our economic prowess.

We could have cowered in fear and backed down from doing what we needed to protect ourselves and the world; we could have let al Qaida dictate the terms of sovereignty (read: Spains reaction to terrorism) or we could have picked ourselves up, dealt with our grief and sought to bring justice to our enemies.

Our economy is not the only thing that makes us great but is one we need to tend. A new tower taller and stronger is a fitting memorial and testament to the American Spirit because it shows that when knocked down, we pick ourselves up, dust off, and fight back.

Building a new tower communicates that you cannot, will not, defeat the United States of America. You can tear down our towers. You can scare us. You can kill our leaders. You can disrupt our lives. You can do all those things but you cannot beat us. We will build new towers. We will find new security in our hitherto latent strengths. New leaders will emerge and guide us back to our way of life.

We have an unconquerable spirit. That new 1776 foot tower will symbolize that while our enemies continue to live in caves, tents, and mosquito ridden swamps.

Also, Erin, motherfucker is one word not two.

I made my first banner

I also made this for Kipp because she made me make my own banner and thus the banners are terrible:

Neither banner has met success but have met suckfest.
